We got this baby with captain John on Sunday around Massey's. This is the first one I've seen in person. Seems like a lot of people have been catching them lately. Anyone know some good fishing techniques or is it just pot luck to end up with one?

They can't be caught by normal means...![]()
Just KIDDING. Go to the video section and look for the Sniper Setup Video.

Wahoo tend to run below the surface, and using a planer setup, troling weight, or downrigger are the most effective way to catch them.

Talk about Jer being on the ball... Beat me to the edit...
Here is how it looks in action; http://videos.sportfishermen.com/vie...9/Planer_bite/
I got 3 30 to 40 pounders on sunday, and had another dozen bite offs.
The hoos seem to be thicker than tunas this year.
we werent targeting them, the fish ate nakeds on 80LB mono, and 1 ate a B/W Hawaiian eye.
Pretty work on youre fish.
Pot luck for some...Targeted species for others...We high speed troll (16 kts) for them Hoo with trolling sinkers and shock leaders...Our baits are just below the surface at high speeds...We can cover a hundred miles or so in a single day...Success rate is very high.
