    Do you pull a Dredge?

I'm looking to get a dredge to pull this Spring/Summer from the scupper. Not looking to spend too much and I DO NOT want natural fish that I have to rig. I've fished with the Mylar strip dredges as well as the individual plastic fish with holograms and both look pretty good...I know the best dredge is a natural Mullet dredge but that's not what I'm looking for. Any opinions/experiences would be appreciated!!

Forget the strip teaser dredges and go with the Blue Water Candy dredges... They look great, don't tangle too much and don't require an electric reel to handle...

We have gone from roughly 1 raised billfish every 10 trips to 1 every 4 - and had a couple of multiple billfish days since we started using them.Do you pull a Dredge?-bluewater_candy_dredge.jpg

Never had one, I was a lineman.
I second the Squidnation dredge. We pull the blue squids and the pink squids, looks great, easy to deploy, don't require much weight to stay down so you don't necessarily need an electric reel, but something like a down rigger would help.

I do not but it is on my list for the winter to get a pair.

Everyone is know who uses them say they work.

I typically pull a hookless squid bar from my teaser reels or hookless squid chain.

Yes. If you are looking for something affordable you can build one of these for very cheap. This is what I use.

    6-arm 9er umbrella rig bar.
    50' of 400lb handline
    32 oz trolling weight
    (12) 3/4-1 oz egg sinkers for chin weights
    #8 or #9 wire
    Snap swivels
    Black rubber bands.

Put snap swivels on all 12 split rings. Twist up wire with a chin weight for a ballyhoo rig. Set these up with posts so you can quick rig with rubber bands. That's about it man. Cheap and effective. I must admit though 2 double dredges off each side is the way to go if you really want a lot of white bites. I just like putting 12 naked hoos down there to add a little spice to our spread which is mainly geared for meat fish.

    Offshore Innovations Titanium Dredges...

Either fixed or collapsible... I use the collapsible( if you go this route this only manufacturer to buy from) because of ease of storage when done.

Though my preference is mullet or ballyhoo, the Holografish that OI carries are the best artificial on the market.

I also use their dredge weight because it is RUBBER coated so it can't ding anything.

A double dredge pulled on a corner cleat is easily removed by one person and the tow line can be made with minimal effort and componentts. Key to be sure that you can see it.

My suggestion is go for best of both worlds when rigging dredges. Natural/artificial mix.

    dredge

I would start out with a double ballyhoo dredge. We us Manns Ultimate hoos and they work well. One important tip in that if your using all artificial dredge it puts more stress on the dredge bars. This being said, if you use the cheapest dredge bars that are most common in tackle shops the bars will eventually break off. We use strike point dredge bars and they work well and arent overly expensive. Eventually you will start mixing in naturals with your artificial for better results and maybe even add another dredge.
