What type of rods do you guys prefer to use when running a direct drive style wind on leader (the one with a small SPRO swivel that will wind onto the reel)?

Large eyes or big roller guides?

Im a rod builder large rollers. I hear every day cheap guides ring just fell out. The guides were never made to have swivels passed thru them.

For tunas and blue marlins, large rollers. For whites , sails and mahis on 20# gear, no roller.

Never had one, I was a lineman.
Crimps and swivels are bad for regular ceramic guides. Rollers it is.

Rollers on 50lb and up, guides on the light stuff 20-30lb for white & sails, roller tips are a pain in the ass if you are prospectin all day IMO !!!
