    That's a good question?
I have the 10 Mega Pixel Canon Rebel XT1. It came with a 17-85 mm auto focus image stabilized lense for about $1000. It will shoot 3 frames/second and won't slow down until it gets to 27 frames. So it will go for about 9 seconds. I'm very happy with it so far. The best price I found was with B&G Photo (online).

If you are looking for something simple, Minolta makes a few that are waterproof. A nice feature.

The Canon Digital Rebel XTI is a lot of camera for the money, but be careful with it on the boat. Not really designed to be sujected to the elements.

I'd agree. Stick with Nikon or Canon. I like Canon myself.

My pick of the day, based on price, quality, and dual lens package. Want to fire 3 frames a second till the memory card fills up or the battery dies....look here

If you're using the camera for tournament fishing, you might be wise to stay away from point and shoot digital cameras as all suffer from varying degrees of shutter lag. Go with an entry level Nikon or Canon digital SLR, like a D40x or Rebel XTI.

As far as vendors go, I've been a customer of www.buydig.com for years. There prices are usually impossible to beat, and the service + shipping is as fast as possible.

Best advice I have received is to get the extended warrenty on these Digital SLR's. Usually an extended warrently is worthless but in the case of a digital SLR in a saltwater enviroment you will get your money's worth. That camera will go kaput with 2 years no matter how well you take care of it.
