did something different
Got a chance to do something different today. Another mate and myself each own kayaks, we don't ever get a chance to use them. We have been talking more about it latley. i have heard that there was some good trout and puppy drum fishing in the sound. Well we both had the day off and decided we were going to give it a try. We launched from the fishing center a little after lunch time. Covered some ground, we wanted to fish area that doesn't get hit very often. My friend got the action started with a puppy drum. fun to watch him get pulled around. I worked my way past him and i also caught a puppy drum. He got to me and caught a flounder. He also lost a trout at the boat. Moved on to a larger area we could drift through. Got several bites each of us catching a few puppy drum and a few flounder. Started backtracking and went up a c**** we had not been through. This is were it started going off. We could see them tailing and we sight casted to them. Between the two of us we probably caught a dozen puppy drum and a couple flounder in this c****. For a while it was every cast. It was a blast. We headed back after that not knowing how long it would take us paddling into the wind. Great day, ton's of fun. Nice weather. The water is still warm so there is no need for waders. who knew we had such good flats fishing in our own back yard.

Sounds like a great time Chris. Those north Oregon inlet creeks and marshes are beautiful like no other I have been to.
Please take a camera with you next time. SeaBiscuit |

Nice work
My buddy is down wearing out the trout and pd just past the flats on the left when your going through the crack. I know its not an underfished spot but he says its the best fishing he's had down there in years.

Really i was hoping to catch a couple, and it far exceeded our expectations. I will bring a camera next time. It will most likeley be next week when we both have a day off at the same time. I love that blue tail on the puppy drum. Lots of fun.
