    Delma on electronics opinions

We have a few days to pick our package so we are back in the water for the start of strummin. What would you pick? A furuno package with 2kw ducers and KVH4 sat tv or a full Raymarine package radios and all? We get a few extra thousand off the Raymarine if I wear a hat

    Chum,

I have never been a raymarine fan, I found thier electronics were not to user friendly. Although I have not had too much expierience with thier new stuff. My choices would be

    GPS- Northstar or Garmin
    Fishfinder- Furuno all the way
    Autopilot- Simrad or Furuno
VHF- Standard Horizon (easiest to crack for expansion channels)
Radar- Furuno only (got me through the fog at night too many nights off of gloucester more times than I would like to remember)

Any Sat TV systemj you are going to have glitches KVH and Seatel, I have had them both it is 50/50

    Just my opinions

Thanks I personally like Furuno equipment but the deal with the new Raymarine stuff is hard to beat if they do it for the whole package. I like Furunos 2kw machines.

    John-

If money were not an object I may have gone with Furuno. I got a great deal on RayMarine and so far couldn't be happier. Have 2 E120-'s with the 1kW hi-performance ducer, dsm 300, etc. Screen is awesome, detail is great, charts are pretty cool too and I have really come to love the performance of the fishfinder. I find it to be one of the few that can be run in auto mode and it does a great job. I think if you went with RayMarine you would get a fair amount of attention from the pro-staffers around as well as the reps that monitor these boards that are always willing to call or email with tips. With Furuno you'd probably just be "another" satisfied customer.

I doubt you would regret the RayMarine decision.

I like the temp service also. They changed the prostaff program this year I wanted to rig the whole boat with Ray stuff but now they are doing a little back. We are looking at 3 E-120's on the dash

    Unhappy

Unfortunately, Raymarine did not want to step up to the plate. We even waited a couple of weeks for a final decision. They changed there program and we would only receive 1/2 off for 1/2 the equipment. We were equiping the boat with everything Raymarine had including three 12's on the bridge. With above mentioned discount Furuno was cheaper and I think in the long run for re-sale a better option for us.
