I can't be in Jersey and Florida at the same time so I sent him in my place. We discussed spots and strategies and off he went to the spot on my buddy Eroc's boat. You know that rocket 27 Contender...
They got started trolling and though things looked good the bite was slow to start. They did nail a nice wahoo ff a pot and set up to chunk. Deep Deckhand is a special kind of guy doing stuff for the team. He stayed up for a couple nights at the right tide and loaded them with peanut bunker instead of chunks.
They almost immediately bowed up on something that spooled a 50w in quick order. They re-deployed and it was quiet for a while. The deep squid was nailed and it was off to the races time.
Thre anglers took turns for a couple hours on what turned out to be a nice chunky sword. The chunks had been flying all along and when they resumed fishing the ocean around them was filled with tuna!
They were gentlemen about what they kept which was six. The rest were released and eventually they just had fun hand feeding them when they got too tired to take any more.
At first light they trolled a bit and decked a couple birds. Ideal conditions let them do the rocket thing back home. 2:10 from the hundred square to Sandy hook. Damn Eric loves to run em like he hates em. Thats the quickest yet. Averaging nearly 45! Best I made (being polite) (not my boat) was 2:18 or roughly 42 from where we were that day...
ANy way congrats gang. I wish I was there but have my hands full with paperwork and a few projects...
