    December Fishing Destinations

Spongee and I are looking to get away for a much needed vacation. Any recommendations on where to find the best fishing and resort destination in December? Looking to fish 3-4 days without breaking the bank.

We have been to Cabo, found the guys at the dock and paid them $300-400/day if they didn't have a charter. It wasn't the Sea Splendor, but we caught fish.

    Any suggestions would be great!

Uh, didn't someone just come back from vacation?

We fished in Puerto Vallarta in September with Capt. Lora, who has a beautiful 26' panga that is capable of getting to some big fish. And the inshore should be good then too. He was $75 an hour

You can also panga fish in CR without busting the budget.

Or, go to the florida keys and rent a center console for a couple hundred a day. You can fish your butts off without blowing the bank

Good luck, and tell spongy not to make us worry this time

What about exploring the east cape of the Baja penninsula. There is some great less pressured fishing than Cabo. Also I think that time of year there are whales all over the place.

    Really off the beaten track....

Xcalak, Mexico, best inshore fishing in the world. 40 minutes north of Ambergris Cay without the crowds and pressure, old world Mexican town in an Eco-park that has some of the most amazing diving and snorkeling as well. Super cheap.

www.casadesuenosxcalak.com is my place down there. Flights are cheap right now into Cancun and Belize, half day panga is $150.00 US, full day is $250.00 US, with lunch and beer. My rates are too good to even print.

You can also access the incredible reef and lagoon fishing for FREE!! from my place, with use of the kayaks. Grand Slams are an everyday occurrence, and the wade fishing is top notch as well.

Give me a shout if you are interested or want more information.

Ixtapa/Ziuat. Mex is another good one. Probally one of the cheapest places anywhere to go offsore fishing. You can get a nice ponga for offshore and a good crew for around 200 a day. I have fished there a total of 7 days over the years and have gotten 20 plus sails some nice yellowfin and lost both a blue and a nice black there. The also have some great roosterfishing. Just haven't done it yet. It is tough to pay to roosterfish somewhere else, Costa Rica has the best in the world.
