Slated to possibly go to islands that day has a wrench in the works... Still a possibility I may get the go ahead to stand down and be available.
I'm gonna have to cover about 1000 miles to get there and I'm thinking Fredricksburg is where I'll hang my hat going in. About an hour short of DC it would give me ample time to slide in.

Now the question. Washington DC for me is a place I drive past. Don't know diddly about the towns layout. What exit to take from the Virginia end? Where to park? Do we gather one place and then march to the "steps" or just show up?

Considering train myself. 22 hours each way. Gets in 7:45 AM then doesn't leave til roughly 7:30 that night... Few hours to kill on either side of it hope i don't freeze to death.
Cheaper than driving by a little and would save me two nights of hotel. More important though is that I'd show up rested...

Dug a little bit and found that the rally it self is in "section 2" which is directly up the street from the station and on the left side of the capitol building itself.

DC is harmless during the daylight hours. We are having a get together in Annapolis later that day. Annapolis is 45 minutes East of DC. Please stop by if it works for you.

DC is about a 45 mile ride w/o traffic. If you are planning on heading to DC between 5am and 9am....expect about a 90 minute ride.

FOr directions from Fred'brg....95 North, follow signs for 395 North towards DC....take exit for 14th street bridgeRt 1 North.
Turn right on Independance towards Capitol.

Now...leave all sidearms at home. And bring tons of patience. Traffic sucks, people don't follow directions, street signs or traffic lights. Parking is on your own however there are numerous parking garages in and around DC...$20 for the day.
