Day after Christmas in the Keys - Flats Skiff and a Mutton Snapper for Dinner

The day after christmas and it was time to get everyone out of the house! Jumped on the skiff and headed up to the BIG CHILL for lunch and a few drinks. That place is awesome!

After lunch Justin and I dropped off mom and little brother and decided to try taking the skiff to do some patch reef fishing. The front had just come through so it hadn't started blowing too hard...we gave it a try and it really wasn't too bad.

Got anchored up, cast netted some nice ballyhoo, that came right in. The water was nice and dirty and they never knew what hit em. Justin wasn't interested though...insisted on using our live shrimp. Next thing I know, his little 8lb. test rod is bent in half and he's "HOOKED UP". He made nice work of the fish and was all too proud of himself as you'll see....

LOL, I never had a touch on the fresh ballyhoo, meanwhile I think he fought and lost 3 more in the short time we were there on his shrimp.... who says "father knows best..."

Not a bad way to spend the Holidays!
