A mild northeast breeze brought comfortable temperatures and lower humidity to the south Jersey coast and 31 participants gave it a go offshore on Day Four of the 2005 Mid-Atlantic $500,000 and a significant change occurred in the standings.
The big news of the day came when Ted Wills Pipe Dream backed to the scales and he has moved into second place in the white marlin category after weighing a 68-pound billfish which was caught by Wills himself. Bob Pacilli’s Penguin remains in the lead in the category with his 75-pound billfish. Ron Innamorato’s Tag n Brag is now in third place with his 65-pound billfish.
The blue marlin division leader continues to be William Burris’s Melina with a 699-pound billfish. Jeff Leerink’s Speculator remains in second place with his 525-pound blue marlin while third place remains vacant.
Phillip Infantolino’s Heart to Heart continues to set the pace in the tuna division with his 78-pound yellowfin followed by Tag n Brag with a 56-pound true albacore. Art Kontos’ Let it Ride remains in third place with a 52-pound yellowfin.
Greg Hockman’s 74-pound wahoo caught aboard Size Matters leads that category while Chuck Seergy’s Cisco Kid sits atop the dolphin (mahi-mahi) category with a 47 pounder.
Boats with multiple billfish releases on Day Four include John Raimondo’s Sea Mistress with three white marlin while Pat Healy’s Viking 68 released two white marlin today. Bob Mormile’s Intensity released a blue marlin today while Andy Findlay’s Endless Summer released a blue marlin and a white marlin.
With tomorrow’s weather looking very good, it should be a wild finish as Friday
