I quess this is more positive than the way me and mdlax06 put it, but a 43.5lb fish is hard to argue with huh? For those of you who disagreed with me yesterday would you have killed any of these fish with two 70lbers on the leader board?(note not bashing just asking a question)

Going by the stats on the open site in 2 days of fishing:
9 whites boated (3 day1, 6 day 2)
152 released (44 day1, 108 day2)

So more captains/crews are probably paying close attention than (maybe) not.
Given the extreme hot weather loss of water weight on a boated fish (Iwould think) would be a critical issue. This effect could have nixed Nimrod on day one! Even with the best of care your fish can loose weight and the scales don't open till 4pm so you really have to work at keeping the fish hydrated and properly iced.Anybody hoping for the winning blue better have the measurments from the 2 on the board! I thought 567 might hold up all week then comes a 590!

lets keep the discussion on point baiter, you and exlax were talking about a fish that was a half pound off. Not a fish that is 22 lbs off the mark, would i have killed the 43.5 , probably not, though the thing we keep missing in your argurment is IT DID MAKE LENGTH , otherwise it wouldn't have gone on the scale.

in my opinion, and after talking to a gentleman that was there last night, we all might have to get better educated on a white vs a hatchet marlin. while the fork length for a white may make the fish close to the 65lbs, a hatchet it may not.

Onc again I DO NOT have a problem with the fish that was a 1/2lb shy, that fish probably weighed close to or above 70lbs when boated. Some of yesterdays fish though are a different story.

Good point on the white vs. hatchet, so was the man you talked to saying that a hatchet of the same length would weigh significantly less? Any chance the 43.5lber was a hatchet?

from his vantage point, it appeared to be a hatchet.

Cant tell for sure with the picture but the 43 lber looks like a hatchet. Also they are going to do some research with the one that"HOTSPOT"brought in yesterday as that one was confirmed to be a Hatchet.Lighten up guys these fish are making minimum measurements there is no need to belittle a person for bringing in a fish that they boat because it doesn't meet your standard.

Nice Point Will...
Also lets not forget that ALL the fish that did not make the tourney minimums were legal fish to kill.
