Great pictures John
I do not know how far you were out in the last pics before johnny seafood's post but the water sure is blue. Thanks man I never saw the early morning sun from the west coast. I gives a different look to the morning.
There are some sharp looking boats over there. The graphix on the contender are sweet. The white blending to a lightning bolt fit the boat well. Nice ride !
thanks again![]()
If you look at some of the pictures (bad company) and others you will see the boats glassing (with gyro bino's) as soon as they come out of Avalon and while they are waiting for the Shotgun start. They are looking for stripey's up to a mile + away, there have been fish caught within minutes of shotgun start right outside the harbor as first fish release wins points/$$
Pretty Cool you can get into the Marlin anywhere once the start goes off, although today the fish where caught further South then normal.
With all those guys in the tower and tower seats on the enclosed bridge, blue, tower boat, what happens when you get multiple shots? Just curious, why they fish looking forward??
Well the party scene is pretty much zero as this is now off season on the island.
Boats and fishing, The big boats you see are basicly personal long range boats.
Big thing they have here is bait and alot of it. We watch piles of bait swim through the marina all day long. Now all these boats seem to carry plenty of live bait and are on the look out to pitch baits to the marlin.
Sight fishing seems to be the biggest producer of marlin here. Seems alot of boat have gyros and can see about a mile clear as day. You scan the water side to side looking for marlin fins on the surface. The guys you see sitting up high are looking closer in then the lower guys with the gyros. Once they see the fish some boats pitch baits off the bow and aft. Im not sure about all boats but so far that is what we have seen from some on the water yesterday.
We will try to interview some guys today at the awards for you all.
Now that's a cool rig![]()
But I've got the same question, I don't see anyone in the cockpit, that could be one crazy scramble to get to the rods![]()
Very cool John. Definetely different techniques then we are used to.
Hope those guys have seat belts![]()
Don't think you could pay me enough to ride up there on a rough day
