Dare Ya 3 day OI Report

Wow, its been a while since I've fished offshore 3 days in a row. This office job is making me lazy

Sat- had some friends from Suffolk come with me. Got into some nice gaffers right off the bat. Trolled around a while til we came across a nice weedline with a temp break and color change. Started catching and lossing gaffers immediately. Then all of a sudden right long pops with nothing there.....drop drop drop....swats twice...drop drop drop....swats twice again. Three more time and fish on!!! Never jumped and stayed deep. Tim (first offshore trip ever) fights this fish for about 5 minutes til I get a look at it....SAILDOG...Leader and in the boat for a quick photo op...Back in the water, revived and swims away strong. Reset baits and here come a wahoo at mach 3 outta the weeds. Hits right short, hooked up and jumps....Bye bye mr. hoo. Troll along picking up a gaffer or two. Its about 3 pm and I told the crew that the next fish is the last. Bout a minute later, right long goes again....drop drop drop(see above) Fish is hooked and jumps....second sail of the day. Tim's dad Michael does a great job and we release our second saildog and head home.

Sunday....Dad and some of our friends on board. Head right back out to where we left of on Sat. Immediately started catching and missing gaffers. Did see one sail come up on the right teaser but was just a looker...

16 Gaffers is the total for the day!!

Monday....On the way out to our old faithful, I see the fleet tuna fishing and 4 boats sitting down fighting fish. Pull the throttles back and set spread. 2 minutes inright short pops but doesn't pull tight. 30 seconds later we have 2 on. Both nice yellerfins... one going about 65lbs. Reset and bang...got a single. Troll rest of day marking the best marks I have seen in a while. Had a REALLY nice eyeball sky our long shotgun, but misses the bait. Awesome sight!!!! Around 2 pm I start trolling back inshore some. Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang....We have a quad. Two pull off and we get 2 in box. Had one more tuna come up and get tangled in my favorite teaser...Tuna won and I lost my teaser..

We had a pretty good weekend. Did anybody else see any cobias out there last weekend or this past week??

Good work with the sails there...wish we coulda seen a couple. Cobias are around, my buddy saw 12 last thursday and caught 2. One was 80#...to bad I passed up goin on the trip!

Purty water all up inside now. Inshore boats catching gaffers a few miles off the beach. Hope this means its going to be a good year! Mahi, tunas and sails......... got a feeling a blue one is in store real soon for you!

damn...you get to live in kill devil hills ?? home of the best crabs and coldest beers i ever had at dirty dicks...you lucky ******* - put some shoes on before you wind up in the hospital for a week..that tuna slime and fins will throw your body for a loop if you ever get poked good...TRUST ME
