Gery Brown 130#Hollow and unwaxed and 80# Diamond

This is our 50# rod and reel setup Gerry Brown 130#Hollow unwaxed Braided line and 80# to 50# High seas Diamond Cheapest and we catch alot plenty strong for Bluefin Unwaxed gerry brown is important very hard to splice with waxed line. as far as whipping you can use regular dental floss very small diamater and Very strong use a cross weave patern when whipping so it looks like a chinese finger trap. very small amount of supper glue on whipping when done.

Our 130# is 150 dacron backing 130# Gerry Brown unwaxed hollow 180# or less Flourocarbon leader.

The whole trick to splicing is to strech while you whip and start whiping at the rod or reel end of the line. We are abble to use a number of diameters of line in 130# hollow core. Make your splices at least 6 feet I recomend 10 feet sometimes it takes two needles one to open the hollow core and one to pull the leader. On smaller diameter leader material dip in and out of the Hollow core every few feet and place a whipping there. You can also go from Hollow Braid or dacron to smaller solid braid or splice extra line this way.We catch fish as big as 1000 pounds using spliced lines and leaders. If you are making wind on removable leaders you can splice the hollow core back into itself. Splice about 6 feet or more and dip in and out every few feet. Leave your desired size loop on the end.

visit our website www.massbayguides.com to see what we catch with spliced line.

Or if you would like custom leaders made for you go to www.squidbars.com

By the way I am a cheap guy, so I would use regular 150# dacron backing and splice your Gerry brown that you have, back into the dacron. This will give you more line capacity for that 1000 pounder. Also very Important to wind the line tight, it can bury itself and cause problems. When you are heading out let the line out behind the boat with no plug or bait. Keep the boat around 5 knots and wind the line back on the reel. When you get to the spliced areas cross back and forth on the reel using wide crossing so your line cannot bury int the next line. Hope this helps.
    Good Luck and Good Fishin
