I know theres a lot of guys on here that have gone to Los Suenos, I am going pretty soon, I wanted to know if you can fish from the docks or from the rocks around there and catch any fish, snapper , grouper, jacks, etc... . I am bringing my kids and would love to fish with them like we do in Florida. Also are there any snook on the Pacific side?
You can not fish in Los Suenos. But you can fish the beach. Everywhere except Hermosa beach as it is a park. The world record Snook was caught in Hermosa. They are around but not easy to get. Better fishing off the beach down near Quepos. But you can do it.
you may want to check out the mouth at the parrita river. It is between Jaco and Quepos, near the town of Parrita. You can drive there. Many local ticos and gringo fisherman go down there. The waves and swells can be big sometimes so be careful. Stop in at Marshas restaurant in Quepos the Gran Escape and ask around there for someone to help you with directions to get there. Also may want to go with a local guy or gringo who fishes there. There has been some really big snook caught there but like Dave says it is not easy, also a good spot for roosters.
Be RealCareful if you're taking your Kids fishing anywhere other than a sturdy dock, swells on the Pacific Coast of CR can be huge, sneaky and surprisingly quiet.
i hear a story of a yacht that was entering the marine and near the rocks(the yacht was no in) they caught a rosstera big one. the marina is a safe place for smal fish and big ones to so if you get out of it you can catch some good fish. and from the brach you can fish. in puntaleona beach if yu ar lucky you could catch roster and snook.
There are a few good places you can casually fish from shore here and target snook, jacks, snapper, and roosters. I also have a guy here that has the "from shore" fishing dialed in pretty good and he does escorted trips at a pretty cheap price.
Take down my local cell number which is 8858-2333 and give me a call when you get here. I'll see if I can get you connected with him. Please know as well that if you and your guests are planning on doing any tours such as Zip Line Canopy, ATV, or White Water rafting, I'll get you discounted rates on all of them, and make your reservations for you.
Email me or call me and I'll gladly make some great restaurant, sightseeing, and area "must se and do" suggestions to you so you guys have the best experiences here.
