    Cortland Spectron Braid?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Cortland Spectron braid as backing for Tuna Reels. I know the Jerry Brown Line One is the most popular, but the Cortland claims to be hollow/spliceable as well and it's about 1/2 the price - thought I would check here for any 1st hand experience before making a decision.
    Thanks.

    NO IDEA

I have no idea about Cortland line, but love the "wrap-check" name. Any history there?? Is it a one handed wrap check?? What's the deal??

Sorry Jay I have not tried that product yet but the company does have a great reputation.

Former lacrosse player (actually I still play has been men's league) a wrap-check was my favorite move for taking the ball off someone.

Seaker - good to see you the other day as well, glad you guys got to meet. I'm going to try and get over there - sounds like a good time. Not sure on the sched yet - we're doing the RISAA show the weekend before and then have to get the boat in the water, we've got some Cod trips coming up.

no not on tuna reels. Used it on 24 oz 6 arm umbrella bars trolling stripers. The reels were takota by shimano. Green was the color and solid no hollow core. @ the time it was cheaper than all brands in the solid core.

Tim Tower swears by it, and he catches a lot of groundfish.

I use the 130# black and white solid on all my trolling gear. Will use on tuna this spring but have caught wahoo, White marlin, Mahi, and countless other species. Have never had it break. Stopped the boat once while trolling for hoo's with a marlin on started to chase and got rocked up in 200' of water I could not break the line it was holding us there in about a 6 knot current tied off around the cleat!!!!!!!!!!!! Great stuff!!!!!!!

I have not used the Cortland line, but I have looked into it due to it's price, I could not find specs for it online, but from the feel of it, it feels thicker then comparable JB. I also looked into Melton IGFA braid, I believe that is slightly thicker then JB, but from what I've been told by guys on this forum, it is good line. I know a lot of tackle shops by me are starting to use Momoi Hollow-core, which is supposed to be great, but it costs more then JB.... I was told $30/100yards of 80lb I ither plan to stick with JB because it has proven itself on my gear, or I may give the Melton IGFA a try, their products are usually proven and the price is reasonable.
