[QUOTE=shipmate bill;303778]I spend WAY too much time offshore (not a bad thing) but i've seen all sorts of crazy things. Manta rays, white sharks, whale sharks, basking sharks, submarines, orcas, beluga whales (i tried to catch one cause that's what they make caviar out of and man they were big) .QUOTE]

Caviar out of a whale huh Lmfao! that has to be one of the dumbest things i have ever seen! did it ever occur to you that whales are mammals and give live birth not eggs like the rest of fish do think about it! for someone that claims to spend that much time offshore you should sure as hell know the difference between a mammal and a fish!

My buddy is at the wheel while im setting out lines, just as im done with a 4th close in line, i look down and as i look up i catch the 2nd half of a HUGE splash right in our spread. I shout and wait to see which reel starts screamming.. done does. Seconds tick by like eternity.. and about 10 seconds later just past our spread a whale does a full breach. and a 3rd jump after that. right in a row. ...

Now I know they are smart. but that 1st leap was close ...like 50 feet maybe.

I'm playing. I know caviar comes from fish and beluga caviar comes from beluga sturgeon. When you say Lmfao.....that was the point of the comment, it was a joke. Plus i would do everything in my power to protect mammals. They're awesome out there, and add to the offshore experience.

Negatiiiivvveeee......

My Dad and little brother were coming up the ICW in Wrightsville beach. They had just finished gassing up the boat and were on the way back to the dock when they saw something floating in the water. They approached the "object" about the same time as another boat did.

It was a dead body. An older grey haired gentleman in a "Tommy bahama" type floral shirt and had been there a while, swolen, rough....

When the other boat called it in, the coast guard asked if they could try CPR and in a slow southern draw, the man simply said "uh...negggaaatiiivvve"

What is odd to me is that a body was found, reported, picked up and we never heard one thing about it. Nothing on the news, paper, anything.

Made the "Big Pussy offed" scene in the Sopranos seem a little more close to home.
