Clear up planner usage for me

I need to know more about using a planner. To start, all I know is you can run them on your cleat with a release or off of your rod tip and the thing trips so yo can fight the fish and not the planner.........that's all I know. I need to know the difference between z-wing and or regular planners. What depths do the different sizes represent? I know about downrigger usage as that is all I have done. So come on guys help a man out. Thanks in advance. Wahoo Too ( in memory of SS238, USS Wahoo )

I will be glad to help you on different ways to properly use planers. Whether you want to use the planer on a rod or use it the old style of running it off a cleat and use a rubberband release. It will take me a while to type in all the information, if you would like to call me a Capt. Joe Shute's Bait & Tackle at 1-800-868-0941 I will help you to the best I can.

Good Luck & Good Fishing,

Capt. Joe Shute
