    Chub Dates Filling In

The calendar is filling in... If you are planning to join us or if you would like to jump on for a leg we welcome you... I have added a couple legs and some dates have closed out... We have closed deals that will take some of the dates listed but are flexible and will take the ones not filled.

Our first open dates are, March 3-7th... We will be billfish exclusive on this one dialing in for the Bacardi which follows immediately.

The next open dates will be more of mixed bag fishing off the moon. March16-20.

We get jammed up for the next few then I'm going to open April 9-13 for the next open one...

Catch a fresh rising moon April 24-28th... Another rising moon date is April 28 to May 1 or near full and possibly the best open dates are May 2- 6...

If necessary I can juggle some dates to accomodate your needs. Its first come first serve though and once a date is closed its closed.

We have room for up to six per trip but we can sail with four. Singles, doubles, or tripples will be paired enough to make the four person minimum... I will close the booking for them at four though so as not to crowd the boat.
Price is $1750 per man for the whole leg. We supply air from either Nassau or Ft. Lauderdale. Lodging will be included at Chub Cay's hotel. They have fancy houses available on request for an upgraded fee. You will arrive roughly noon on the first day, fish that afternoon, fish the next three very full days and the final morning... We provide lunches, soft drinks, snacks and two dinners. One will be steaks and one will be a fish fry.
The catch is yours to take home. We will filet and freeze it for you... We can bring coolers for you with advance notice. I however recommend that you bring a roller style one packed with your clothes and a duffle bag. Bring your laundry home in the bag and your catch in the cooler.
We will be targeting billfish mostly hwoever we stop most days during the mid day lull and catch grouper or snapper. Frequently the mahi show in overwhelming numbers and they can run big. Wahoo are often thick and this year we will dedicate one line to them for a couple hours on the way yp and down the wall toward the marlin grounds of the pocket.
After big game fishing feel free to ask my mate to take you for a chance at bonefish or permit. Evenings are casual with no real nightlife except what you make...

We had room for one single open up on the April 5-9 leg which is otherwise full and ready to go... The rest of the group going have done the trip before and any one who joins them is gonna be in the best possible company...

Don't be shy if you are a single... I'll put only good people with good people.. And no I won't crowd the boat... Four is ideal...

Doing Chub Billfish, Bacardi, Member Guest over there this year... BBC circuit crosses Big Rock and shark tourney circuit that we're already booked for. Considering a leg of it but there's like $7000 just to join BBC before any kegs... Kind of a waste...

The math is pretty simple here... For what a person would pay for two canyon trips they could have five days in a very hot spot, food, air, lodging, and a lifetime memory...

    bbc

the bbc entry fee is $1000.00 plus the entry fee per leg, that entry gets you in on the million dollar grander caught during any leg of the bbc. We are seeing some of the best fishing here in the abacos that i have ever seen in 20 years wahoo tuna dolphin grouper snappers etc. Of all the tournaments i have fished both north and south the bertram hattreras shootout and the bbc rank at the top! the bacardi isnt a fishing tournament, not to say we wont be back there this year but it isnt about the fishing, As far as a all around destination you cannot beat the abacos, fishing diving beach bars etc......

Wewll thats a pretty strong statement... Bacardi isn't a tournament? WTF... Its the only one I know of there that the guys run canyon length and fish harder there four days than any of the "out front" ones in the circuit. We damn near won it last year and this year we intend to finish the job!

I see that they're only a grand to become a member now... I thought it used to be higher...

I fished Abacos for some years. Not bad but not up to what Chub can produce when you really learn the spot. Also the weather out there is an issue for smaller boats... At Chub the layout of the pocket lets you get out and fish in just about any condition it throws at you... When you get thirty from the east at treasure and you are under 50' you're pinned to the dock... At Chub on the rum side its a foot high chop...
As for wahoo and grouper and mahi we run away from them much of the time as they get so thick we can't get a serious spread out.
Abacos get the nod for drinking or bars or dining... Thanks for your input but I'll take Chub any day for fishing...

The pocket is a special place indeed... Look forward to meeting you at Bacardi... Last year it really got serioused up. The economy thinned out the party people and the fleet by almost half... I think I only saw two boats or so getting into the classic Bacardi swing of things... The rest were all about getting real. We too took a second and that pissed a bunch off that we did it in a "skiff"... This year we'll have the new Vike under us to soften some of the bumps though...

Any way... I'm trying to get this booking part done so I can go buy all the steaks and plane tickets and stuff we'll need for the run... Gotta up the bait stock to meet the extended schedule so I need to get a firm number on how many legs we will fill so I can get the right amount of freezer space to hold all of what we need ... Effectively we have four open legs right now of the seven shown. Three of them are sold but the people flexible on which they will take... The other dates not shown are all sold and locked out...

Better check to make sure they are going to have the Bacardi this year, rumor has it the tournament is off.

Havn't heard that rumor myself. Two sets of conflicting dates being published though has me wondering... Call and email into Raul yesterday not answered yet... Chubs first one would be the one I would worry about...
Can't be a hell of a lot of interest or money laying around for that one... Hell I heard they cancelled or were going to cancell a leg of the BBC last year... Its tough right now, money is short in a lot of occupations...
Not just at the tournaments but for these trips. I've had a few responses from those who want to go that the money has them grounded or worse yet they got laid off...

If Bacardi doesn't fly we still have Chub to at least fun fish at...
