Thinking of going to Chub Cay in may. I hear that the marina is open again but really wanted to see if anyone has been there recently and when do the blue marlin usually show up in the pocket...we are flexible on when we go as long as my boat is out of florida by june 1...any info wuld be great
I'm in contact almost daily with them. On standby to go myself and will go for a month and a half when we do go. Yes marina open, plenty of fuel, restaurant open. All good to go.
The rise of the moon is the best for blue ones there... I prefer the March moon (Peak 22-28 this month) to say April or May as the dolphin aren't as horribly thick as they can get on the next moons.
The April and May moons as noted can be swarmed with dolphin and tough to fish. Rather than get right up tight on the full when the green ones are at their thickest Take it back a week or more from full. Plenty of billfish without as much trash.
You'll hear a lot about the southeast wind being best. Yes its better over a wider area but the moon and tide will bring them regardless.
