Chip Van Mols grabs Kona's first grander

Apparently yesterday the Monkey Biz II weighed a 1064 blue. 20 minutes on the fight. Fish caught on a jet...on the stinger. Pics when I get them.

Good going team Monkey Biz. First grander of the year for the State. The big girls have been in town for a few weeks now. Im glad Chip got one. Hes been hot this season.

Lots of great Captains in Kona. The guy that deserved this the most is Chip.
Probably the best lure captain out there. Perfectionist!!!

If you want to leanr how to fish for blues with a lure, spend a couple days on his boat.

Chip puts enough back that I can't begrudge him a grander....

And it turns out it's the second grander for a 9/0 Hays Hook. Sure got balls, dem little hooks.

More info when the hangover subsides, so Chip tells me.....

Spoke with Chip. Quick fight. Blue jumped a lot at the boat like a black. Had a gaff in her and then the leader broke.

Thought he was going to retire the lure. Said he is going to put it back out as soon as he can.
