Thats a good video. I do mine basically the same, but use sandpaper to rough up the mono before I feed it into the hollow core. It help catches a little better on the handcuff when you pull it tight. At least that was how I was taught. Thanks.

Awesome....learned something new today....so in what partciular situation would you use the Chinese handcuff......in place of a wind-on?
Any limitations on size of mono, etc? Pros and cons?? Thanks again!

I use it on all my 50's. 130 backing with 80 or 100lb top shot. Then I do regular windons swivels for my leaders. The advantage is that it is a 100% connection, that goes through the guides seamlessly. Also, it is not effected by being buried in spool. This system would really be great for smaller setups as well, 30's etc. It also is the first step in doing the bridleless planer rig which is coming right after taxes and our trip this weekend. |

Do you glue the top and bottom of the whip, or just the top like you did in the video?

Sorry about the resolution, you can't see it at all, but the glue actually runs around and coats all sides. I make sure it gets a good coating and sometimes go back and wipe off any heavy spots to help it dry faster.
