Check out this Grander

Got this in an email from a friend.

Subject: Fwd: LAKE OF THE WOODS STURGEON -

Scary to think there are fish this size swimming in MN waters. It
was caught at the mouth of the Rainy River. This sturgeon weighed
out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11'1". It was 56" around
the girth and took over 6 and a half hours for the 4 guys taking
turns reeling to land it.

Amazing fish. I think I've seen this or a similar picture posted here before, but it's cool to see it again (not sure if it was the same pic)

I remember seeing a picture a few years back of sturgeon waiting to be processed. There must have been 200+ the size pictured here, floating like logs at a river mill. The picture was taken localy here in Nanjemoy Md about 100 yrs ago. There was a caption stating how Nanjemoy was the caviar capitol of the world at the time. We're about 1/2 way down the Potomac from D.C. I've been on this section of this river my whole and have only seen one. That was in the late 70's fishing gill nets, and it was only about 3 or 4 ft. I also remember reading that George Washington made a journal entry about the sturgeon spawning so thick that you could walk accross the river on thier backs.
