Charter Scam

Just curious if any of you have heard from Williams Cole today. Wanted to charter my boat for next weekend. Series of emails (cell phone was not an option for him) that culminated wiht him wanting to send me a cashiers check for 4000 from a client that owed him money, and of course wanted me to send him the difference (since the trip was 2050).

Anyone else get this today?

There are a lot of them out there....We had one, he was dying of cancer and wanted to fish with us in Costa Rica. I said OK. He says I have 3 mos. left and want to leave next week to CR. He ask for my bank account info to deposit the money. I told him we would rather take paypal or a credit card, it protects me and him from a scam. He said OK i will call you tomorrow with the info.. NO call for two weeks. Then a friend who I told this to, got the same call. He did the same thing. Guy never called back. Months go by the guy calls me again protenting to be someone else and tries again. So much for 3 mos. to live. Then talked to a buddy from the Keys. He knew someone who got taken by a similar deal, the guy clean out his whole bank account. I actually felt bad for the caller at first, here he is just another con-artist! Feel real bad for the capt in the Keys!

Franky, keep him on the hook.I had them send me 3 phony checks by fed-ex before they stopped.Turn the tables on them a few fed-ex letter shipments cost them a couple bucks.I told them I had it in my pocket and the wife accidently washed it,so they sent the second and I told them it got rained on when fed-ex delivered it and was ruined. The third time I told them I signed it in the wrong place and the bank wanted to talk to him to make sure it was OK to cash.I had some fun for a few days, its funny what these azzes will come up with.

You know, some of these guys aren't just plain thieves. This is one of the ways terrorists raise money to do there thing. ID theft and scamming allow them to finance their "projects".

I get alot of them from the UK also. The one this week was an email from a group of monks who would be in town and wanted to do some sport fishing... they wanted to rent my boat for a week. Not only did they try to pull the crap with sending a check, but also when I responded to the email (and told him that I was onto his scam), they somehow got a hold of my yahoo account password and forwarded scam letters to all of the 500 or so email addresses in my yahoo address book.
