I think someone got a bit sidetracked here. The question that was posted was about the CENTER RIGGER and it's placement in the spread, not the distance of ALL the rigger lines.

I don't use a center rigger but do run a rod or two from the bridge...I pull it or them right from the rodtip. As for what to run, depends on what you are fishing for. I have pulled a Spanish right behind my flatlines for blue marlin, spreader bar in front of my short riggers for yellowfin and wwwwb for bluefin...all from my bridgerod.
As for the wwwwb discussion on bluefins...we have been there 100x before. Come to the lumps off OC and you will catch some bluefins up close but......if you want to catch slobs you will drag a bait or two 300 or so yards back OR...I said OR....you will get the planer rod out and get a bait down deep. Quite simply, you will get outfished on these lumps for big bluefin if you don't do one of those two things.
