We actually have our little boat (Mako center console) in TIYC, probably the same marina you are in on 87th street in Sea Isle. The other boats we offshore fish on are in Cape May and we have one buddy in Margate with a 28Carolina Classic.

Johnseafood, that's awesome you were able to get numbers like that on the inshore bluefin. You are probably the only boat that I have heard of that pulled numbers like that fishing a tight pattern. We had only 1 bluefin bite on a flat line this year and it was only a 50 pound class fish. All other flatline bites we had inshore were wahoo and dolphin. 99% of the bites came from the WWWB.

This has been discussed at length before. But I will add to it again.

There are some days that the up close get bit, some days that the WWWWB get bit etc, etc, etc. Find what works for you and stick with it.

When I WWWB fish I use 80W or 130 Penn Internationals. I let the bait out until I can lay my hand on the top of the reel and swing my thumb in without hitting line on the spool. I am pretty sure that is 300 or more yards. Some days it gets all the bites, some days they pile on the short riggers. Every day is different.

    WWB's work for YFT too.

I fish out of OC too and for us the wwwwb was our main weapon on the blufins we did get a few on the shorts but the planner and wwwwb's were the answer.

Hey I look at it like another weapon in the arsenal !! Some days everything gets smoked, some days its the short rigger or the long riggers some days its the flats and other days it is just the planer. I remember the year before last fishing from Hatteras to OI and every single fish but one hit the planer rods Luckily we had two plane rods on the boat!!
I like running the Center rigger Wahoo fishing too, when its way back there and we find bait we will often make a slow sweeping turn and it drops down in the water column way outside the white water and many times this promotes a strike just like slowing down or stopping and letting the the lines drop in the water column then speed back up. It nice to have a few options......Mark

Hummmmmmm I guess maybe you should go fishing instead of sitting here typing about it..and fishing 5 trips a year doesn't constitute fishing

Not sure who that was directed at but this is the kinda stuff we gotta do in Feb. to keep us sane until the 2008 offshore season kicks off. We are still in the water though and killing tog every chance we get.

    i love the cr

I think u have to experiment with the center rigger alot to make it work for u. Had many nice fish in that position and would never feel right about spread if I didnt have cr hangin up there above.

Hey if you kill fish like that keep doing it but catching 6-10 fish by 8:30 in the morning or earlier when others caught nothing or one i'll stay with what works for us.
