We forgot to mention in the meeting last week that additional food and beverage tickets are $15 before August 31 and $20 after for those who are interested in bringing their children and spouses.
I'll update the info on the next meeting here soon. I'm thinking Monday August 29th 7pm at a local establishment. Martin's, OV Surf Rider on the new deck, etc.
Here's the official invite:
Coastal Conservation Association, Virginia
From: Coastal Conservation Association, John Shaughnessy, Anglers’ Club Challenge Chairman
The CCA, VA Tidewater Chapter is proud to announce plans for the 15th Annual Anglers’ Club Challenge to be held September 10, 2005. This memorandum is your club’s official invitation to participate in the Challenge. We encourage and welcome your participation. Who will win bragging rights this year?
Again this year, there will be no boat parking in the Marina Shores parking lot. Boat trailer parking will be across Great Neck Road on the grassy area in front of West Marine. Though CCA will make every effort to make the transfer of fish to the weigh-station as painless as possible, it is still the team’s responsibility to get their fish into the weigh-in line by 5:00. Sorry for the inconvenience, but Marina Shores has been gracious enough to host this event, and we do not want to lose our tournament site because of a few inconsiderate individuals.
RULES:
Eligible fishing clubs are those that have had at least three meetings during different months in the past year, and those that have competed in past Angler's Club Challenges.
Each Club may sponsor up to five boats at a cost of $60.00 per boat. Late reservation and entry fee is $75.00 per boat.
Each Club must enter at least three boats.
Each boat may have up to four anglers, plus non-fishing Captain. No additional mates are allowed.
Boats must leave from a Virginia port the day of the tournament. Surf fishing teams must leave from Virginia the day of the tournament.
Lines in the water at 5:00 a.m.
Weigh-in will be held at Marina Shores
Weigh in will begin a 3:00 p.m. and a representative from each boat must physically check-in with the weigh mistress by 5:00 p.m. with their catch in order for the fish to count. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Each boat may weigh three fish of each species. The largest fish (overall) of each species will count three points, the second largest, two points, and the third largest, one point.
Reservations and the $60.00 entry fee per boat need to made and paid no later than August 31st unless other arrangements have been made with the tournament chairman. Late reservation and entry fee is $75.00 per boat.
The Club with the most total points will be the “CHAMPIONS of 2005.” In case of a tie, the tied Club with the largest number of first place fish will be the winner. Second tie-breaker: If the tied teams have an equal number of first place fish, the team with the earliest registered first place fish will be the winner.
Each registered boat will receive four tickets for the “Save-A-Fish, Eat-A-Pig” barbecue that follows the tournament, as well as 8 tickets for “adult beverages”. Additional tickets for beer and wine will be available for $1 each. Nonalcoholic beverages are free with the barbecue tickets.
Additional tickets for the barbecue may be purchased through 8/31 for $15.00 each. After 8/31 $20.00 each
Everyone in the barbecue area must have a ticket.
Beer and wine will be available at the Captain’s Meeting for $1 each.
If you have any questions, please contact me via telephone or e-mail.
Thanks and good luck to all!
