Carolina on my Mind,

I hate this cold weather. I find myself sitting at the computer staring at pictures of past trips. I havent fished offshore in a couple years, just too busy doing other things. I think the best memory I have of fishing though, isnt all the fish I caught, its the day dreaming I do remembering North Carolina. Pirates Cove is a magic place to me. If there is any reason I buy another boat to fish offshore it will be because of my memories of that magical place. I could just do that 10 days a year and it would be enough offshore fishing for me.
This is only a short clip from 2005. I watch it when Im bored and cold. It still puts a smile on my face. The boat was my 29 blackfin, not the biggest. Hell, I have never had or caught the biggest of anything but that was never really important to me anyway.
It wasnt about the fish to me, it was 10 days in a great place with friends and laughs.......plus drinks and for some........Kellys.
When I search Yacht world, thinking should I, or shouldnt I.........its North Carolina at the front of my mind, drawing me back someday...........maybe.

Hubris, you remind me alot of my old friend Louie Politis, (aka Big Louie or Disco Greek) he past away 3 years ago this month at the young age of 47. He always said what was on his mind whether you wanted to hear it or not. I'm going to quote something he used to say to us all the time. Don't get all Sentimental on me. Nice Alex.....you know I love a nice blackfin.....might not be a cabo or vikng....but they are fish raising machines and I would not trade the time on the fin for anything.....they dont bulid them like that anymore do they.....and I am in total need of a lattitude adjustment, I have family in Myrtle Beach.....thinking of making a long drive....just dont know whats snapping and when.

I'm sitting right here and was just thinkin', maybe I should move up there! I kinda get tired of fishing for "something "12 months a year. Gives me nothing to daydream about. I really don't think you'd make it down here though! Sooner or later, even you would catch something that you would have to mount and put on the wall. Yep, there would go that "stuff shirt, arogant azz" reptuation of your's. You've worked long and hard for it, better give it some more thought! Frank

I love Pirates Cove....we stay down there end of May every year for about a week...I often launch from the ramp across the highway vice the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center nightmare....Here's a a video of 2009 at Pirates Cove..Jim is a great guy...Bob

Big Stripers are snapping right now!! Come on down could have had limits Friday and Saturday in 15 minutes both days. Cant tell you how many we released... Nice fish most were 25lbs+ From Duck to Rodanthe. Balmy 40s water about the same.....
