Captain's License Q. (move to new section if need be)

Sorry for posting a non-big game thread here, but this section of our great site definitely gets the most exposure. Feel free to move it if it is in the way Admin.

Ok, So my application is complete for my OUPV, but the only item I am uncertain about is this.

Does an applicant have to take a new Boating safety course within 12 months of applying regardless of if you have obtained one in the past? I can't seem to get a clear answer on this and want to be all ready to go when i go for the exam in three weeks. Does this requirement only apply for a launch tender? Any help would be great.

Also, as far as the fingerprinting part goes, do they just need two sets of prints from the local PD? That is what i have done, just want to make sure I am not missing anything.

    Thanks in advance.

You'll get fingerprinted when you go in for your test, its a digital scanner that saves them to file. Your PD ones probably wont work. At least that has how I have done it. a;ways at the REC for prints

have you applied for your twic card ? they print you digitaly when you get the twic done those prints are the ones used for your application . have you completed an OUPV captains course ? make sure you have all of the correct documents included with your application .

as for a boating safety course I had taken one before I took my CG exam , in my lic process they never asked for any other documents except for the certificate from my OUPV class & testing site . one thing make sure you have more than enough seatime they look at all document with a fine toothed comb .

Another vote for Mark Grossetti. Well worth it. www.cglicense.com

As for the boater safety course, I do not think it is needed. But Mark could tell you for sure.
