The Shark Hunter series and also the new show Off the Hook depict a type of fisherman that are foreign to me and 99% of the great people I know in the sport fishing community. OLN/Versus is doing more harm to our community by trying to depict sport fisherman as cheating drunks who do not care about safety, the ocean or our resource.
Most networks have chosen to avoid these stereotypes rather then exploit them for television ratings. Respectable networks now turn away from the drunk charging the field or stealing the football in professional sports television. Why, because it cheapens the sport. OLN/Versus has taken a great American pastime and cheapened it by not only glorifying the cheaters and drunks but also by enhancing their presence with suspicious editing.
Shame on you OLN/Versus for what you are doing. Our sport is a noble sport supported by honorable men, women and children. The excitement of offshore sport fishing should be grand enough to gain ratings and viewers. I do not think I am out of line by stating that the 60 million fisherman in America would much prefer to watch the excitement of an offshore fishing tournament for what is instead of the edited version you have chosen to portray weather it be true or not.
