Cape May Marlin & Tuna Club - Shockely Tourn. July 5 08

CMMTC members,
The Shockley Off-shore is scheduled for this Saturday. The Captains meeting will be Friday night and the tournament cookout is scheduled for Sunday. While we've had a number of billfish reported by club boats, the blue marlin anglers have not been members so I believe the first blue marlin angler award is still in play.

Please remember there are new federal circle hook requirements for 2008 that impact all participants in tournaments with a billfish category.

The Atlantic Circle Hook Rule states...
Beginning January 1, 2008, anglers fishing from HMS [highly migratory species] permitted vessels and participating in billfish tournaments [any contest that includes categories for billfish] must use only non-offset circle hooks when deploying natural bait or natural bait artificial lure combinations. Tournament anglers may deploy "J"-hooks with artificial lures.

The seas were a bit lumpy and the fog a bit thick but we had a great time at this years Shockley Off-Shore tournament. Most of the action was on the in-shore troll with many boats reporting tuna and mahi. Had my fish eaten a bigger breakfast I could have held off Covert Mission.
