Cape Hatteras Fears...

Alright, while traving down the east coast from OCMD to Lauderdale we hit 22 foot seas heading around Cape Hatteras. Every wave was a scare and we were scared we would go into its trough and never bring the bow back up. This lasted about 3 hours! We tried traveling 30 miles out to go around, not much hope. Slowly worked around it going at a trolling speed and headed up at Morehead City at around 11 pm. Probably one of the wildest seas ive been through. Anyone else got any stories related to Cape Hatteras?

"Graveyard of the Atlantic" seem's to ring a bell. Yes it can be snotty, but what a beautiful place!!! Spent one night on an 82 footer with 1800 horsepower, head-to and lost 19 miles, not bad, huh!!!! Frank

Biggest I ever saw was 16, and that was scary. I cant imagine putting 12 more feet of face on that.

Have checked the weather report. You know they have those these days. 22 ft is a big wave.

Took one completely over the top of a 35 Bruno one year in the Village Tournament. 1 foot of water in the cockpit, coolers floating around. Uuuuugly.
