Canyon Runner Report 9/30-10/2 - Doesn't Stay Hot For Long

Capt. Mark DeBlasio took the Steve Cleary charter out on the Ritchie Howell and did not find the same hot bite the 48 had. It started out nice as on Tuesday late afternoon he was putting together a catch with probably over 15 big mahi to weed through during the day they pulled 3 nice big longfin and went 1 for 2 on wahoo to 60#. At night on the first night they did nothing and on the second day troll caught tons of mahi put not much else. They worked the chunk the second night until 11pm looking for a sword and missed one and then ran inshore to see if the bluefin are still on the Atlantic Princess lump but they were not.

Sorry to rain on the weekend parade of boats to the canyon but I could not at least let everyone know what they might be in for. We cancelled yesterday and today due to weather and both boats are leaving very early Saturday to get a little more trolling in.

At least the boys are out there putting some meat in the box. I think the YF are history for 2008. My weekend Charter was coming down from Jersey canceled to fish the Canyon, Oh well!!! Ken
