Well it did not take long for the Canyon Runner crew to get back on the fish. I was on the phone with mate Tom Kelly at 7:15 am just checking in to see how the morning was coming together and I got to hear reels screaming.
Two seconds after Tom saw a porpoise jump right of the bow of the boat the port planner rod went off. Capt. Mark DeBlasio (who was in the cabin grabbing breakfast) ran to the bridge, grabed the phone from Tom, confirmed the hook-up and threw down the phone. I got to hear the next 3 minutes of battle before the line went dead. 45 minutes later Capt. Mark calls back confirming an 86" Giant on the deck. That make number 5 in the boat in 10 days of fishing. Not a bad start to the day and the season. This one ate a Joe Shute lure skirted horse ballyhoo. The 2 yesterday ate a naked horse adn Joe Shute skirted horse ballyhoo.
Hopefullly their luck continues.
