Canyon Runner Oregon Inlet Real Time Report - Fishing Picks Up Nicely

I guess I should have waited before putting up that post this morning. I just got back to my office and Capt. Mark DeBlasio left me a message from the SAT phone on the bridge of our 60' Ritchie Howell. Apparently they are having a ton of action today with plenty of quantity but not a ton of quality - yet.

They left the dock just after 9am with the Richard Steer charter from Connecticut and starting fishing around 11am - by 2:30pm they were 14 for 18 on blackfin tuna. Believe or not (and I am sure there are plenty of spectics) according to his voicemail the spreader bars are actually producing most of the bites.

The weather is beutiful and they plan on spending the night. I'll update this report with location once I find out.

I am guessing they got down there on the 230 rocks on them blackfins that have been airing out on flyers. If they were staying the night in that area, they probably smoked the blackfins. Those blackfins really get going in the evening and usually theres no one around to see it.

Sorry guys I was waiting for Mark to post all the details but he is having trouble getting internet service. He will post here shortly but in sum he ended up with 1 50" mako at night released, 6 hamerheads to 250# - released, 6 duskys - released. In the morning he picked away at a couple more blackfin and ended up with 15 blackfin and 13 mahis. I think he was southwest of the point on the troll the afternoon prior by about 12 miles as I believe he drifted up to the point at night and then reset - but again he will fill in all the good details.
