In a game of one up manship the boys on our 48’ Viking outgunned our 60’ Ritchie Howell on Monday-Tuesday by 2 fish. Capt. Mark Jankowski, Capt. Deane Lambros and Ryan DiBaggio, fishing with an open boat charter, left Pt. Pleasant for the Hudson Canyon and arrived at 10am right into a pod of yellowfin. The first lines in the water barely got wet and it was game on. Fishing the west wall all afternoon was non-stop action and they finished up with 22 yellowfin on the afternoon troll. All the fish are 40-60 pounds and trolling a 4 spreader bar pattern with mostly ballyhoo making up the rest of the 13 rod spread they had bites on everything.

They moved over to the east wall towards dark to look for a big-eye but did not catch there at dusk or dawn – the night bite was non-existant. On the morning troll they went into release mode and released another 11 yellwofin, tagging most of them for the scientists. They did have a big-eye on for a short time hooked on the west well but eventually pulled it off. Pictures of this trip will follow once I get them off that camera.
