Canyon Runner Giant Tuna - First Fish in 15 Minutes - Seminar Update

Well it didn't take Capt. Mark very long to get his first giant of the season. As luck would have it, 15 minutes on the troll on his first trip of the Morehead City, NC season he was tight and 1 hour later an 80 inch fish was in the boat. Capt. Ryan DiBaggio was in the pit to do the cranking and Mark threw the poon.

They are back up on the troll hoping to get lucky again. Catching a fish that fast is sometimes a bad omen so I hope it's a sign of good things to come - fingers crossed!

    Just a quick Seminar update:

We are spicing things up in the Seminar this year and trying to bring in other flat out great fisherman to compare and contrast our techniques with theirs and one of the best we found is Captain John Oughton of Pretty Works Charters. Capt. John will be doing the Ballyhoo rigging breakout session along with a couple Canyon Runner mates and we will be showing how similar yet how different two great crews can rig their ballyhooo for tuna.

Captain John Oughton has charter fished for 30 years. His extensive fishing resume includes the north Atlantic canyons, Cape Hatteras, and many other destination fishing spots. He currently fishes the waters off the Florida Keys from Oct to June and spends the summers catching tunas and marlins off Ocean City Maryland. A leader in dead bait trolling as well as all live bait techniques, he is a big time fish producer. Captain John is a consistent tournament winner whose only goal is to fill up that fish box. He can be reached at www.prettyworkcharters.com.

    Good morning to you too!

I think the owner of this site, and many people on it, will confirm shortly that we post every single offshore trip we run. We are just lucky enough to be in on the bite more often than not - you are welcome to ride along anytime and see for yourself.

By the way - we are running a business - if we didn't post our trips we'd be out of business. You don't see McDonalds stop advertsing - why should we?

    Have a nice day!

WOW !!!! I just had to stick my 2 cents in here, as "sailphiscatcher" has these guys ALL WRONG !!!!!!!! I have probably fished with the Canyon Runner crew more than any other person over the past 6 or 7 years and you can rest assured that a report of the trip was posted REGARDLESS of the results!!! a complete and honest report!!! There have been times,, although not many, when we didnt have a very good trip, but those results were reported as well, as those reports are just as helpful to everyone as the great reports we so often see.... These reports are posted to help fellow fishermen get on the fish as well as to show potential customers that they are on the fish and putting together positive trips for their clients!!! To jump all over them and make it out like they are saying something they arent is in poor taste, maybe your just mad because you are having poor results on your own trips??? what next?? are you going to blame the Canyon Runner crew for catching ALL of the fish in the ocean, making it impossible for master fishermen like yourself to put a catch together???? "good guys catch fish quietly" ???? maybe some do,,, but the Canyon Runner is a business and it is simply just good business for them to advertise their great success so potential charters can consider them for future trips!!!! I would get to know these guys before you question their honesty, integrity and ability !!!!!! They are a quality outfit who treat their customers with great respect and have immense success on the water due to their knowledge, experience, and time on the water!!! lets not forget that all reports are backed up with pictures as well!!!!! I cant thank the Canyon Runner team enough for teaching me everything that I know, and helping me to build my passion for offshore fishing.. thanks to them, I now run my own 42 yellowfin and enjoy great success, with continued support and advice from their entire team!!!!! quality people and a quality outfit,, and YES!!!! almost always on the fish

Well played. As someone who fishes quite a bit in Nc I can attest to Marks skill at finding and catching fish and I have never had the pleasure of being on a boat with him. I am amazed at his ability to pick the right area to work, network with other good boats and entice the bluefin to eat.

Trying to demean his fishing abilities only demeans your judgment and character .

sailpishcatcher, your post should be removed, not because Canyon Runner is a sponsor, but, because it was juvenile at best.
