Canyon Runner Giant Report - 91" Bluefin

Fishing on our third day down in Morehead after striking out Wednesday the boys laid over offshore and immeditaly got into the action Thrusday morning. Their first bite came un-done only a minute or two into the fight. Their second bite did not. It measured out at 91" and dressed at 315#. Both bites came on the planner rod with a horse bally and Joe Shute 3oz lure. Capt Mark, Pete and Henry are feeling very lucky to be able to put 2 fish in the boat this early in the season. Fishing is slow today from what I've gathered thus far - hopefully things start to pick up.

The guys were busy getting the 32' Regulator in the water last night and rigged and ready to go so he was not able to send me pictures but I think I'll get them tonight.

I don't think Phil cares if he sees another giant the rest of his life. He use to fish for them back in the day when the Mudhole off New Jersey was teaming with them but today all he wants to do is bass fish once the canyons shut down.

Purdy work boys, we zigged when we should have zagged and got to listen to the bite from twenty miles away.

Congratulations to the Canyon Runner crew for their first of many, I'm sure. Good luck the rest of the season.

    Awsome job (as usual),

When you say you caught the fish on the planer rod are you refering to a fish that was caught off of one single planer rod with an inline planer, or two rods, one harnessing and holding the planer and the other (that retreived the fish) attached to it on a release clip.

    thanks
