Canyon Runner First Canyon Trip of Year - 14 Yellowfin and 1 Bluefin So Far

Capt. Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mark DeCabia just called from the Canyon Runner and got a quick message in before the sat phone went out. They left for an overnighter at 10am this monring, our first canyon trip of the year, and as of 8:30pm they boated 14 yellowfin from 40-75 pounds and released 1 smaller bluefin as they had enough meat in the boat already. Not a bad start for our 2007 Canyon Season and they are not even half way through the trip.

Deep - Don't worry they are in release mode already - we beg our charters to only keep what they can eat and alot of times they listen. Believe me we love releasing them as it is less to cut up at the dock. Capt. Mark DeBlasio is out there also on the Hooked Up with one of our charters but I have not heard from him yet. Capt. Mark DeCabia is fishing with Phil.

Got another quick call from the guys but really having a problem with the Sat Phone service (we have the handheld version and I just placed an order for the fixed mounted version with the antenna for the hard top because I just can't get the guys on the phone for more than a few seconds - Globalstar is repositioning their Satelittes and the sevice is not what it use to be so far this year) so I am very sorry for the lack of detail but once they get back to the dock I will update with a full detailed report tomorrow.

They did call to confirm that they are in the Balitmore Canyon in 68-70 degree water.

Capt. Mark DeBlasio got into them this morning going 7 for 12 before 8am and he got 3 before dark last night. Capt. Mark also had a 200 mako at night and lost a 150 pound sword at the boat and released another 80 pound mako. As far as I know both boats were going to fish until Noon then run the 120 miles home but again I just can't get either of them on the sat phone for more than a few seconds.
