With the canyon fishing almost over the crew of the Canyon Runner has started to switch back to inshore fishing and Capt. Phil Dulanie’s first love – Striper Fishing. However, Capt. Mark DeBlasio got in on the action first and quite well.

We started fishing for Bass on Thursday with the Joe Miller charter and Capt. DeBlasio at the helm. The charter was more than happy to troll and that’s exactly what they needed to do to produce a bite. Trolling the Shrewbury Rocks on our 48 Canyon Runner the team put 10 bass in the boat keeping 4. In addition they caught 3 dozen blues. The lure of choice were umbrella rigs with red and black tubes.

On Friday, October 29 the Steven Ostrower charter had the time of their lives with Capt. DeBlasio and Capt. Ryan DiBaggio jigging and trolling for the day. The charter wanted to jig as much as possible and so doing caught a ton of Bluefin. Although, to catch any bass they had to drag the wire and when they did they caught almost immediately. But alas most of the day was spent jigging and the total saw again close to 3 dozen blues and 4 stripers.

On Saturday, October 30 Capt. Phil Dulanie took our striper charter out on the 60’ Ritchie Howell. Keith Ortner was on the boat for one of a few bass trips this year and Capt. Hook was running the cockpit. With two kids under 10 years old on the boat we had our anglers and they did a heck of a job even though they opted to use the wire and the fight was a little harder for them. Trolling right off Mansquan and down to Sea Side they picked away all day at the bass and a ton of blues. Red and Black tubes on umbrella rigs were the lure of choice again and 2-3 dozen blues spiced up a catch of 5 nice bass.

Folks – we have both boats still in Pt. Pleasant for the fall and both Capt. Phil Dulanie and Capt. Mark DeBlasio are running our bass trips.
