Canyon Runner - Doing 69 We Are in Ecstasy With Our 4th Blue Marlin

Full report to follow but I just needed to get up here that the yellowfin are still here and our 60' Ritchie Howell can't seem to keep the Blue Marlin away.

The boys were out today and in 8 hours of trolling had 69 yellowfin and the 60' Ritchie released another Blue Marlin. This one a "small" one at 350-400.

We tagged and released over two thirds of the yellowfin today bringing our tagged total close to 250 for the year.

wow, 7 minutes to reel in a yellowfin and time in between to catch a 400lb blue marlin all trolling,

are they all small fish? is this with a regular charter?
We have a tough time landing a yellowfin on normal gear in 20 min. and I fish with all seasoned vets.
then maybe 10 min to set the spread out. most of my best days ever trolling(and I have been fishing the canyons since 1979) have had 12-18 fish and that took most of the day.
do your charters run all 130's and just crank them in from the holders. I can't understand how this is possible with a charter and tagging thrown in to boot.

    you guys are good

no need to be a smartass alg. 2 boats, 10-12 lines in the water each, 12 anglers, redo the math

thanks for the continued reports CR

    math redone, thanks,
you make it sound like trolling 35 tuna and catching a blue marlin in one day is something that you have done on a regular basis?

unless it's a big secret, I would like to know how you mange your cockpit to make that happen. I must be doing something terribly wrong.

Charter them and find out. They even offer tutorial trips.

Maybe you should charter him and see for yourself. Just because you not good at this is no reason to think one of the best charter boats on the east coast isn't putting up those numbers. I caught 36 longfins with 2 anglers on the boat one day off of LI. It isn't that difficult. Next time try starting with the question and see if you get a response. Nice going on your 4th BM CR.

    I'm might be wrong...

but, I read it to be that both boats were fishing. Either way, the CR team is on fire, tuna, sharks, marlin, nothing is safe with them boys out there...congrats to all involved!

All of us that don't have 60 footers with a captain, two mates, 6 anglers and fish every day are doing something wrong

Guys - I think the math you are missing is it was two boat not one boat - see the full report on another post.
