Canyon Runner - Busy Fishing Hard To Put Catches Together - Last 10 Days Reports

Guys we have been very busy fishing almost every single day for the past 2 weeks with a couple breaks in between due to weather so I’ve been negligent in getting up fishing reports as such I’m just going to summarize the last week and a half below. But basically it’s been hit or miss with one boat putting together a nice catch each night and all other boats struggling. Here is a summary of everything with some more details for some of the more recent trips.

Canyon Runner 48 – 8/ 8-9 – 15 Yellowfin & 300# Blue Marlin

Joe and Jay Yankowich charter – fishing down between the Hudson and Toms

Canyon Runner 60 – 8/8-9 – 7 Yellowfin (4 on Chunk)

Joe Foy charter – fishing between the Hudson and Toms

Canyon Runner 48 8/11-12 14 yellowfin, 1 sword

Steve Levis charter – fishing between the Spencer and the Wilmington

Canyon Runner 60 8/11-12 – 3 Yellowfin

Lou Ottrando charter – fishing between the Spencer and the Wilmington

Canyon Runner 48 - 8/12-13 - 12 yellowfin

Open Boat – fishing the Wilmington Capt. Mark had 2 fish on the troll in the afternoon bite and nothing at night but made up for it on the morning troll boxing up 10 nice yellowfin for a total of 12 for the trip.

Canyon Runner 60 - 8/12/13 – 2/3 on Whites & 5 Yellowfin

Fishing a strictly white marlin spread on the troll hoping to get in on the hot fishing in the Wilmington the day before we missed the bite by a day and only saw 3 fish behind the boat – missing one and releaseing 2. At night we picked 5 nice yellowfin on the chunk with 4 coming right before sun-up.

Canyon Runner 60 – 8/16-17 – 1 Yellowfin

Canyon Runner 60 – 8/17-18 – 5 Big Yellowfin

Capt. Joe Miele was back on the 60’ Ritchie and also decided to hit the Hudson area too and also picked a couple fish on the afternoon troll. He caught a yellowfin at night and fought a sword for 3 hours prior to losing it which killed the rest of his night bite. Up on the troll in the morning they picked away at 3 more yellowfin and missed a few.


Saving the Best for Last!!!

Canyon Runner 48 – 8/17-18 – 19 Yellowfin and 2 Big-Eyes (180# & 130#)

Capt. Mark decided to head back towards the Hudson Canyon area since nothing materialized to the south and they made the right call. The afternoon troll bite on Wednesday produced 2 nice yellowfin and enough life to give them comfort they were in the right spot. The night was dead right up until day break when the yellowfin came under the boat and they nailed 11 nice ones in 1 hour. Up on the troll they picked away at 6 more yellowfin and right before lines out 2 runs went off without seeing the bite and started dumping line. The Anthoy Bencivenga charter did a great job on the rods and the fish were in the boat in minutes – 180# and 130#.

We were fishing along side the 60 for a while in the deep of the Wilmington last Saturday and we struggled. Sounded like the day bite was hit or miss for most. It has been some hard fishing out there recently. Thanks for the reports.
