The Bluefin fishing out of Pirate’s Cove Marina is not as good as we advertised it might be this year – IT IS BETTER – if you like big fish. You see it seems that all the 100-225 pounders we were releasing last year are back and about 75 pounds heavier. The body of fish sitting there right now is as large last year but all the fish are now averaging 175-300 pounds. It’s been making it a lot tougher on the charters to release a lot of fish but they are getting lots of practice on how to properly fight these fish.
Saturday was a perfect example. Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Deanne Lambros had the 48 Viking about 30-35 miles east of Oregon Inlet and had a bite on the troll on the first bait in the water. They then proceeded to fight fish on jigs for the next 6 hours straight. They ended up tagging and releasing 4 of these fish from 175-300 pounds and kept the smallest which was 68”.
Both the 60 Ritchie and 48 Viking are out there fishing today and again as soon as they had the first trolling bait in the water both boats were hooked up.
NOW IS THE TIME TO GO GUYS IF YOU WANT TO GET IN ON SOME AMAZING FISHING!!
These pictures are from a trip earlier in the week.
