Canyon Runner 60 – 9/15 – Bluefin as Fast as you Could Pull ‘Em

Capt. Joe Miele and Capt. Mark Jankowski had the Jim Mee charter out on the 60 Ritchie Howell for another extended day trip to the canyon. As we’ve been doing they stopped on the Bluefin grounds and had the best fishing to date. In just 2 hours of fishing they hooked 12-15 bluefins and brought 9 to the boat. Almost all the fish were 55” or better but they did manage an under and left with the over/under in the boat and the fish boiling all around. They caught them on ballyhoo trolling but really didn’t troll much as the fish came right to the boat on the initial hook up and didn’t leave for 1.5 hours as they just kept feeding baits to them. They ran off to the tip of the Hudson and put it on the troll for the rest of the day but only managed a single 30 pound yellowfin.

Canyon Runner 60 & 48 – 9/13-14 – Plenty of Bluefin

Both boats left the dock with their Monday-Tuesday charters looking to once again put their time in on the Bluefin inshore early in the day and the canyons later in the day. The 60’ Ritchie with Capt. Phil Dulanie at the helm had the boys that installed all the granite on the boat out for the trip and they guys had a blast. The Bluefin fishing was so good so fast that they stayed inshore on those grounds all day and did not head offshore. After 6 hours of fighting over a dozen fish – they brought 7 to the boat keeping their over and under and leaving with an ecstatic charter.

Capt. Mark Jankowski and Capt. Ryan DiBagio had the 48 Viking out with the Todd Polumbo charter and also ran right to the Bluefin grounds north of the Bacardi and had instant action. Trolling ballyhoo way back the charter fought all they wanted but decided to end that action early and head offshore. They ran to the tip of the Hudson Canyon and started there trolling at 9am. They fished hard all day but only managed one 30 pound yellowfin on the troll.
