Overall another great week with 3 Big-Eyes boats from 130 pounds to 248 pounds and plenty of yellowfin on the chunk for those folks that have been waiting out the chunk bite all summer long. On top of that it looks like we have nice gulf stream water pulling into the mouth of the Hudson Canyon any day now so things should only get better. Here are the last few reports:
Canyon Runner 48 – 8/18-19 – 7 Yellowfin and 3 Bluefin to 200# and Mahi
Continuing with a steady streak of double digit catches, Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Dean Lambros had the Scott Tyler charter out on Thursday to Friday and once again had a banner trip. Fishing in the area of the Hudson Canyon they had nothing on the troll but at night they made up for it with 7 nice yellowfin and 3 bluefin including an over and an under and one released that was 200 pounds. They added a few nice mahi as well.
Canyon Runner 48 – 8/19-20 – 14 Yellowfin
Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Dean Lambros had the Pat Ferris charter out Friday to Saturday and continued to work the Hudson Canyon area and yet again with their 5th double digit catch of tuna in a row. They went right to the chunk on this trip and had a nice shot of fish at 2:30am and another at first light and finished up the chunk with 11 nice yellowfin on ice. They trolled the tip down through the west wall and picked another 3 yellowfin before setting up for tiles nailing a handful before heading home.
Canyon Runner 60 – 248 Big-Eye and Yellowfin
Capt. Phil Dulanie and Kobe Treadwell fishing Thursday into Friday with the Tom Bielicki charter and highlighted there trip with a 248 Pound big-eye that ate a Canyon Runner Green Machine spreader bar on the west wall of the Hudson Canyon. They fished Saturday with the Doug Van Hussen charter with his 3 sons and wife on board and all had a great time with a half dozen nice yellowfin with half picked on the chunk and the others on the troll – again in the Hudson.
