Canyon Runner 7/2-3 – 6 Yellowfin and 1 Mako

Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Hook with Ryan DiBaggio as the mate took the Greg Pennington charter out Friday to Saturday and found some yellowfin were we didn’t think they lived anymore. Heading to the Hudson as there was a decent bite in the square on Thursday that were 10 west of the west wall and heard not a tuna was caught all day. So at Noon they dropped them in there and trolled into the canyon. They fished the bombs to the tip and back and forth for the whole trip without moving any further down the line as they were picking away all afternoon.

They caught fish on Canyon Runner spreader bars and way back ballyhoo Joe Shute combos and had 10 bites in all bringing 6 nice yellowfin in the 50 pound class to the boat. The night bite saw a couple mako bites with a small one released and a large one pulled off.

Canyon Runner 7/1-2 – 1 Bluefin 90 Pounds 5 Yellowfin

Capt. Phil Dulaine, Capt. Mike Zajac and Capt. Deanne Lambros took the Paul Pedretti family – including 20 year old daughter Kara out on Thursday to Friday on the 60’ Ritchie Howell and had a nice early season trip. Reaching the Chicken Canyon early in the morning they trolled for 30 minutes and nailed a nice 53 inch Bluefin on a Canyon Runner Mini-Mamba Spreader Bar. They then headed towards the southwest corner of the Hudson but inshore of the west wall they had all the life they could hope for so they put out the lines. Within minutes they had 2 yellowfin in the boat. No bites for a while had them pick up the lines and run down the corner. A few hours there saw 3 more yellowfin boated. Most of the yellowfin ate Canyon Runner Rainbow Bars and ballyhoo. The night bite was non-existent and the morning bite on the troll was dead. They left in the morning while only adding a mahi on the troll.

Picture is both the Greg Pennington and Paul Pedretti charters including Kara Pedretti who caught her first yellowfin.
