    Canyon Runner 6/15-16 - 29 Yellowfin 40-90 Pounds/4 White Marlin/2 Makos/Big Mahi

The boys decided to head to the canyons first on their Wednesday to Thursday trip before spending time inshore on the bluefins. However, the canyon fishing was so good they never made it inshore. Capts Mark DeBlasio and Deane Lambros with mate Kevin Myler were on the 48 Viking with the Mike Janowsky charter and headed south of the Toms Canyon to find some warmer water. They did – shortly into the morning troll they had raised a blue marlin and a few white marlin getting bites from 2 and going 1 for 2. They then worked off to the deep and nailed a 7 bagger of nice 35-40 pound yellowfin and release 3 smaller ones. The picked a couple more yellowfin before dark and then set up inshore for makos and put a nice one in the boat around 130#. Up on the troll in morning they continued to pick away at the yellowfin and also released another white one. They finished up with 21 yellowfion (13 in the 40-80 pound class) 2 white marlin and a mako.

The 60’ Ritchie Howell was run offshore with Capt. Kobe Treadwell and Capt. Jay Richardella with southern belle Will Howell in the cockpit and a rare open boat trip as the charter. They too headed offshore first and immediately had billfish up in the spread. They baited a white and got the release and missed another. The blue was just a window shopper. They worked for their tuna bites not getting a touch until dusk but the hard work paid off going 6 for 7 and then turned around and nailed a 90 pounder before the bite shut off. On the drift at night they had a mako but it was under 100 pounds so they released it. Up on the morning troll they picked another yellowfin, another white and 6 big mahi in the 15 to 30 pound class.

Man, you guys are on a roll! It's beginning to sound like the Good Old Days out in the canyons. Keep up the good work and kudos for releasing little makos.
