    Canyon Runner 48 Reports - 3 Trips - 38 Yellowfin,4 White Marlin, 2 Bluefin

July 30-31 – Capt. Mark DeBlasio and mates Capt. Ryan DiBagio and Capt. Deanne Lambros ran all three of the trips the past few days. The first of the 3 in row the crew did was an overnighter with the Mike Barlettano charter on Friday. Capt. Mark didn’t want to fish the crowd at the Hudson so went in between the Hudson and Toms. They set up on the troll around 7:30pm and went 3 for 4 before dark on nice yellowfin. At night the wrecked the fish on the chunk going 13 for 21 with a bunch of fish coming on Canyon Runner jigs. In the morning they trolled another 6 in the am for 22 total yellowfin. In addition, in the morning they went 1 for 2 on whites with the fish coming on the bridge rod on bait with Capt. Mark doing the honors on the hook-up. They added a few mahi to finish off the trip.

August 1 The Andrew Bryceland charter booked us for a day troll on Sunday so they set up in the same area as the day before and went 3 for 5 on big yellowfin, 5 for 5 on smaller yellowfin and 2 for 2 on nice ones for a total of 10 yellowfin (kept 5). The yellowfin were not the highlight of trip as they also went 3 for 5 on whites with 2 of those hooked on bait from the bridge rod plus they added a few mahi and ran inshore only to go 0 for 3 on bluefin on the inshore grounds.

Aug 1-2 – Doing a very quick turn around after the day troll the guy went back out Sunday late afternoon with an open boat charter. They went to the South Toms and getting there late, set up on chunk at 10pm. They had all the bites you could hope for on the chunk this time of year but only put 2 in the boat going 2 for 8 for the night. Trolling was slow as they picked a mahi and missed a white so they moved inshore and found the fish in 200 feet of water. The first shot on the troll went 3 for 5 with two nice yellowfin coming in the boat and a 30 lb bluefin released. They also lost a big bluefin on that shot and picked another small yellowfin on the troll. Marking plenty of fish they switched to jigging where we caught another nice yellowfin and a 45"bluefin on bait. The total for trip was 6 for 12 on yellowfin (5 kept) and 2 for 3 on bluefin (1 kept), 0 for 1 on whites and 1 mahi.

Pictures are from the Kevin Grant Charter of last Week which released a Blue & a White
