    Canyon Runner 2 Boats - 69 Yellowfin - 400# Blue - 1 White - Pics

On Wednesday, July 21 both Canyon Runner boats ran offshore to get back in on the tremendous bite we’ve been having. They left at 1am and arrived at the Hudson Canyon in the deep around sun-up. They started catching fish immediately and it never ever let up. A dozen by 7am, 20 by 8am, 30 by 9am and so on and so on.

In the mix was another blue marlin caught on our 60’ Ritchie Howell. This is our 4th blue marlin in 10 days and the 3rd on the Ritchie Howell. This fish ate a Canyon Runner Streaker in Green and the group made quick work of the fish getting the official release in 25 minutes. The Peter Schoels charter was on the Ritchie Howell and finished up at 4pm with 25 yellowfin and the 375-400 pound blue marlin – not to mention a white marlin as well. Capt. Phil Dulanie, Capt. Mike Zajac and Capt. Hook made up the crew.

While the Ritchie was playing with marlin inbetween 25 yellowfin the 48’ Viking with Capt. Mark DeBlasio on the wheel and Ryan DiBaggio and Capt. Deane Lambros in the pit was just crushing the yellowfin. They didn’t have to lose time fighting billfish and had a much faster pick of yellowfin. They finished up with 44 yellowfin to their credit in about 9 hours of trolling.

Obviosuly these fish are eating anything. Our normal patter of 4 Canyon Runner Spreader Bars and tons of ballyhoo and big single lures is all we are putting out but there is not much thought to it with 69 total yellowfin to our credit for the day and probably close to 90 hooked.

One very important thing to mention – we only keep about 14 yellowfin on each boat and tagged 35 and released them back to the seas.

If you are waiting to fish – don’t wait any longer. We are now fully booked on one boat until mid-September and only have 4 dates open on the other in August - so if you'd like to get in on the action with us please call ASAP - 732-272-4445.

Right on guys. I haven't seen those numbers of 60 lb fish in a long time - like the OI chunk days in the late 90s. Hope the billfish luck continues for you in the tournaments.

Thanks - although we've already had that conversation that we might as well fish or big-eye as there's no way we are catching any more blues for the year.

    Nice pics!

Sushi, I remember those days and luckily got out there on one of them on my own boat. What a blast catching 60+ pounders on 25-30 pound gear right off the back of the boat
